Hello There once again. In this blog post, i will write about our flipped classroom assignment. Firstly, i like to explain what flipped classroom approach is. Flipped classroom is a teaching model where direct instruction happens outside the classroom, and active learning happens inside the classroom. Traditionally as we know, teachers lecture during class and and students do homeworks or exercises at home. In here this is reversed. But what about the advantages and the disadvantages of this method? Well, starting with advantages, it promotes active learning since it applies Bloom's Taxonomy. Two, it increases student's motivation since they take more responsibility for their learning. Lastly, students can pause, rewind and rewatch the videos to understand whenever they like so they can understand at their own speed, making it personalized. With every method of course, this also comes with its own disadvantages. First of all, this method requires access to technology which may cause inequality. Second, this method is not very suitable for all learning styles as some of them may have a hard time when learning with video. Third and last of them all, this method requires some strict planning. Otherwise conflicts may occur. Now, lets move on to the process of making this project. Our concept was ' Movie Hospital '. We used the MEB Coursebook for the 5th graders and we based our project on Unit 5 : Health. The script and the editing were managed by us. We used Google Gemini AI for character design, Cap Cut for edit of the video, Suno AI for the music and finally, we used cartoon footoge from YouTube. Baran, which is a unpaid proffesional voice actor did the voiceovers. Making of this project was fun for both of us i imagine and we shared some laughs here and there. Trying to hunt down cartoon footage was something i would not very imagine doing in my university years. Before this assignment, i never heard of flipped classroom like ever. Overall, i liked the concept. Its fun and engaging. But, would i ever like to do this again? No. Because i think its too much to do.
